This photograph taken on location on the set of National Geographic Channel’s ICE HOLES by Series Creator & Executive Producer Steve Marsel  Saturday, February 8th, 2014 on Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, New Hampshire.   This was taken during the filming of ICE HOLES Episode 104 – “Party on Ice”. The Great Rotary Ice Fishing Derby Meredith is one of the biggest winter events in New Hampshire. Presented by the Meredith Rotary Club, this event brings ice fisherman from across the country to Meredith for a weekend of fun, fishing, and seeing what your tolerance for cold and frostbite is. In the end, the payoff is being one of the lucky few who gets to experience the pride of having their catch hung up on the wall of fame, and winning an amazing grand prize.  ICE HOLES airs Fridays on National Geographic Channel. Shot on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire.

This photograph taken on location on the set of National Geographic Channel’s ICE HOLES by Series Creator & Executive Producer Steve Marsel  Saturday, January 11th, 2014 on Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, New Hampshire.   This was taken during the filming of ICE HOLES Episode 101- “King of the Lake”. Todd Downing & Rick “Wob” Warbin  having a “private” conversation. There is basically no such thing as a “private” conversation while on set.  Everything is fair-game for content to film and record.  There’s a fair amount of truth in that statement!  Working in theses conditions everyday in the freezing cold takes a special kind of person.  There’s no getting way from it.  You are followed everywhere,  Every interaction is potentially part of the story.    It’s not easy on the guys, but there two are patient, and cooperative.  They’re “usually” – very professional!

This was the morning after some unusually warm weather for January, here we see Wade Bigelow & Alex Plummer in a light moment.  Catching these guys in a light moment was not a rarity!   They’re both up-beat, and generally always in a “good mood”.  They explain this by telling whomever asks “it’s noon somewhere!”  There’s a fair amount of truth in that statement!  Working in the freezing cold from 8:00am to dark every day takes a special kind of person.  It’s not all grins and giggles.  These guys have heart, they work hard, and they are funny as all get-out!!  ICE HOLES airs Fridays on National Geographic Channel. Sunrise – Lake Winnipesaukee

Shot near Meredith Center on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire.

This photograph taken on location on the set of National Geographic Channel’s ICE HOLES by Series Creator & Executive Producer Steve Marsel is of  the  “shanty town” where shooting was taking place.  It was taken on Saturday January 18th, 2014 near Meredith Center on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire.   This was taken during the filming of ICE HOLES Episode 102  “Now We’re Cookin”.  A light snow had fallen the night before and the light winds would pick the dry flakes up into the air and create halos around the sun.  In the distance you can see the film crew lined up like solders.  Being out on the ice like that early in the morning, especially after a fresh snow is really delightful, so pristine.  In this episode the guys find some time to relax on Lake Winnipesaukee during their break from competition.  Meredith New Hampshire is a great place to visit!  ICE HOLES airs Fridays on National Geographic Channel. Flash Freeze – The Morning After

This was the morning after some unusually warm weather for January, and a day-long rainstorm that sometime looked like the mist in London.  The storm created a layer of slush on top of the frozen lake that made for miserable conditions for the cast and crew.  That night the temperature dropped to below 30F and the slush froze.  It created a beautiful visual effect, but was treacherous for walking and several members of the cast & crew fell.   In this episode the guys try their best to catch the big one.  ICE HOLES airs Fridays on National Geographic Channel. Shot on Lake Winnipesaukee, Meridith, New Hampshire.

This photograph taken on location on the set of National Geographic Channel’s ICE HOLES by Series Creator & Executive Producer Steve Marsel is of cast members Wade Bigelow & Alex Plummer. It was taken on Saturday January 18th, 2014 in Meredith, New hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee.   This was taken during the filming of ICE HOLES Episode 101- “King of the lake”. This was the first annual “King of the Lake Derby” to take place in Meredith New hampshire.  All derbies start out small and build in size and stature over time.  Certainly with the national publicity that this first time derby has garnered by being on The National Geographic Channel through this new TV series “ICE HOLES”, this derby is off to a great start!  It’s a great opportunity to get off to a running start!  In this episode the guys try their best to catch the big one.  ICE HOLES airs Fridays on National Geographic Channel.
